Job Description

1) Product

• Work closely with UK-based staff to ensure all products leaving the Far East are on time, to the required quality, safety, durability and to specification.
• Assist suppliers in the interpretation of products designs and quality expectations. 
• Perform both pre-arranged and random in-process and final inspections within suppliers�?? factories, authorising products for shipment where necessary. 
• Help supervise and monitor 3^rd Party Quality Inspections. 
• Produce written product assessments & reports covering.
• Supplier performance
• Inspection Reports
• Product quality
• Fault Analysis
• Customer-specific requirements/specifications
• Product reliability and functionality considerations
• Assist in the production of inspection and test documentation
• Coordinate or perform product testing to the relevant standards and work with external organisations where necessary
• Assist UK based staff in sourcing new suppliers, products and components/materials
• Audit potential new suppliers for suitability.
• Provide regular product/product development up-dates to UK based staff via email, telephone and video conference.
• Liaise with Quality, Customer Services and Service/Spares departments to help promptly resolve any quality issues that may arise.
• Keep complete, clear and precise records relating to all Inspection and Development issues, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and approved in compliance with internal procedures.
• Advise the UK based Team immediately of any safety, quality and availability / delivery concerns together with suggested corrective actions to rectify the situation. 

2) Management

1. Ensure all equipment provided is kept in good working order.
2. Monitor the performance of suppliers and subcontractors, reporting any issues identified to the Group Outsourcing Manager.
3. Foster and promote a "can do" and proactive culture within every aspect of both their work and Far East suppliers.

Required Skills

• Fluent in English and Mandarin (Cantonese also desirable).
• Good written as well as verbal communication skills, English & Mandarin. 
• Must be capable of producing a detailed & accurate Inspection Report and Meeting Records in a timely manner. 
• Able to work efficiently and effectively without direct supervision.
• Be tenacious and forthcoming with suppliers, building a relationship of mutual respect and a reputation for fairness and honesty. 
• Be able to plan and manage their time effectively with minimal supervision.
• Have a good technical education / engineering background and understanding of production, QC auditing/inspection techniques, component & supplier sourcing and engineering processes. 
• Must have an enquiring mind, asking as a made of course, why, when, where, how, etc?
• Have an understanding of issues relating to shipping, Customs and logistics within China.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Highly self-motivated and proactive.
• Have an uncompromising, unfailing and passionate attention to detail in everything they do.
• Be adaptable to changing circumstances, honest, reliable and capable of working on their own initiative.
